Prebuilt systems motherboards

RU482

Lifer
Do Dell or HP design their own motherboards, or do they just have MSI, ASUS, ect build the boards for them?

If yes, is there a comparative list of what motherboards are in what systems?

Yeah, it's mostly foxconn. I was on the manufacturing floor a few weeks ago looking at an open box of boards.

Foxconn does a majority of the motherboard design and manufacturing for the major manufacturers. They have also started to manufacture Sony PS3's as well.

HP used to work with Asus a few years back. Guess Foxconn is now the big dog in OEM MB. Last checked, the HP boards are still populated with Matsushita/Panasonic and United-Chemicon caps.

I still see a lot of Crucial, Kingston, and Samsung RAMs in those PCs. The US and Europe have conceded PC hardware manufacturing to China even though most of the work can be automated. We only build airplanes, rocket engines, and cars in the US. Wonder how long Detroit will follow Pittsburg, PA.
