i have had a duron 650 for about a year now, and i just got a new HSF(fop32 if you need to know). I can remember back to when i installed the first one, that it was a b**ch. so i was wondering if its safe to pre bend the clip a little to make it less tight. Also i am now using some thermal compound and i was wondering how to use it.

thx

You probably shouldn't bend the clip too much, you want that little bad boy to be pretty tight on the core of the chip there. As for the thermal paste... a VERY thin layer is what you're looking for. what I usually do is squeeze the tube a tad while the lid is still on, then I remove the lid and just touch the opening to the core, and a little bit of goop sticks the the chip. Just spread that around evenly and it should be good. A good rule of thumb is if a ton spooges out the side when you put on the HSF, you probably put on too much.
