Apparently, eating raw potatoes can be dangerous. I had no idea. Peel, rinse, a little salt if you want, been doing it for years.

That's disingenuous at best and borderline dangerous at worst.

The elderly or immune-compromised could become seriously ill by ingesting food containing bacteria.

I'm not telling you to eat shit.

I'm just saying that take your usual precautions.

There is NO going around ALL bacteria, that's just a fact. Certain level of life ALWAYS involved RISK.

That's just how life is.

Unfortunately our media and new LOVES dwelling on these little risks and will drive you paranoid if you listen.

How old are you 5? Grow up with the personal attacks.

Of course I wash my produce, however if I am buying a convenience product i.e. presliced carrots they're are 99% of the time pre-washed. WTF is the point of preslicing if you're not going to wash em for me?

The point is that you are buying pre-sliced mushrooms and are getting pre-sliced mushrooms. What's the problem?

Its true and used as a defense by the plant against predators. Potatoes are members of the nightshade family and contain toxin called solanine. Toxin is concentrated in the sprouting eyes, any areas of greenish potato skin or leaves. Usually commercial potato cultivars have bred potatoes to keep levels of toxin low but yes the threat does exist. Boiling/frying potatoes causes the toxin to leach out into the oil/water

Stop watching this BS

If parasites are so bad and EVERYWHERE, they would've effected your life in some way already.

Relax, those shows just scare you to death and inject more fear.

We get it, parasites are everywhere.......so fuckin what? They always have been and always will be.

Our entire bodies are ecosystems of bacteria/parasites/mites and other creatures.

No biggie:cool:

Oh so are those cases fake then? Hard to know what to believe these days, but figured something of that nature on a science channel would be real.

Can't believe all the personal attacks over mushrooms.

Don't buy sliced mushrooms. Whole mushrooms are easier to clean and will also last much longer in your fridge. Takes me about 5 seconds to slice one mushroom. I guess I'm rather on the slow side.
