pre-paid calling plans

Guys,

I am looking into purchasing a cell-phone. Since I do not plan to be a heavy user; I was thinking of going to a pre-paid cell phone plan. Have any of you had any experience with these type of plans? It seems to me that the per minute charges for a pre-paid plan are much more than a regular cell phone plan. Let me know about your experiences with your plan.
