It's way better in hi-definition off the antenna.

I'm using the MIT mdp-120 and saving the .ts files to dvd. files are kind of big. Takes a couple of dvd's per episode, but the quality is nice.

can't wait for the new season.

you mean couple episodes per dvd? no.

I believes its 3-4 episodes per dvd, there are 24 episodes i think. And yes, that is right...its the limit of the dvd, i believe. you can only contain a certain length of videos. Think of it like mp3 cds vs. audio cds.

Yeah... What is Rubikon talking about?

He was talking about recording it in HiDef, seeing as how this DVD set will be widescreen lowdef at best not 720p/1080) We're getting new discs, HD-DVD and BluRay with increased capacity sizes so we can finally have DVD movies in HD - or in this case TV shows.

I can't wait for the 2nd season to begin!! I like those commercials they had during MNF. I only saw Sawyer's and Kate's "commercial" though.

iirc, hi-def video can use upwards of 20gb/hr. so figure 44ish mins w/o commercials, 4.7 gb per dvdr, ~3-4 discs per episode

the new version of the md-120/130 software lets you only record the single channel, not the subchannel. This will help a little.

The easiest thing to do is to hit he "pause" button on commercials (not the stop button). It cuts almost 20 min out of the hour.

On mine, 15 min = 2GB so 30 min per dvd. (with a little space left over). I'm just writing the transport files to dvd, not mastering it.

I have seen only a couple of machines capable of playing these transport files in software mode. I think it needs 3.5ghz+.
