In light of bad PC performance on Watch Dogs, Dying Light, AC Unity, etc etc.... What is everybody here doing for GTA5?

Pre-order or wait for benchmarks to see if you'll buy it?

Why would anyone pre-order anything on PC? Especially in the days of digital delivery when you don't have to worry about stores running out of stock? What exactly is the advantage? You get some virtual cash ingame? I'd wait to see whether the game is worth it. I think it most likely will be awesome considering it ran great on a crappy XBox360, but I'd still rather see it reviewed before dropping money.

Please do not pre-order. This has been done to death else where, but pre-ordering perpetuates the negative trend of treating actual release dates as betas, among other issues. Wait until its out.

With the amount of time they've spent on the PC version, this better well be one of the most well-optimized games in existence. I think its safe to assume it should run relatively well on your rig, considering you're a little bit above the recommended system requirements. And it would be nice to preload some of the (probably) 50-ish gigs that this game is going to be. But if you really want to err on the side of caution, then by all means wait for release.

I pre-ordered it for three reasons.

First, the CDN dollar is dropping in value, and where it is right now Steam charged $69.99 for this. I wanted to get it before they jumped the price any higher as our dollar continues to plummet.

Second, I had ~$100 in steam money from gift cards that I was saving specifically for this game.

Third, I wanted San Andreas too.

I'd rather have the DVD in my hand & a small download than spend days waiting for Steam to download the game at a snails pace due to overwhelming demand.

Saying that I have it almost pre-ordered at my local Game store, it's gonna be under the counter on launch day waiting for me if I want it. No money down.

Most likely as an nvidia title it will have Gameworks, so it is going to perform like ass.

I would never pre order any games these days. Absolutely no point. Oh you get a 10 year old game that costs less then $5 normally for free? SWEET!

Given the state of PC gaming I'd say there is a 50/50 chance this game will be majorly broken at launch.

This really only applies if you have an AMD card. Nvidia cards have far fewer problems running gameworks titles properly for obvious reasons.

Besides, blame the developers not nvidia The developers are responsible for making their games run right.

NEVER pre-order PC games

I pre-order any game I'm interested in playing on day one. I can also choose to take back my pre-order if something is out of wack at release. I usually buy boxed copies though with the disk even if I download it from steam anyway. I like to keep the box and such.

I wanted to wait for the PC version, but broke down and got the PS4 bundle on Black Friday. Finished it over the Christmas break. Glad I did seeing it was delayed until March.

And I wouldn't preorder. Wait for others to beta test it... :)

unless you have a slow internet connection and must preload and have it on day 1, there's absolutely no reason to preorder.

rockstar also doesnt deserve any blind support given how theyve treated the pc platform so far.

i say wait for reviews from smaller sites/posters before buying. i don't trust those big game sites given what happens behind the scenes.

Gameworks titles have all been shaky at best to begin with, so caution is advised. Worst case scenario, you're not able to preorder, but can order on the day 1, but lose may be some bonus of sorts. You may want to look at the deals on offer to evaluate, it if is worth it or not. Then again, having seen the last few launches, i think it is fairly safe to assume that it may be a tricky little so and so. More importantly, you have an AMD card, so yes, better wait it out.

You're not missing out on much, same ol GTA. If you want some gameplay and a better storyline replay San Andreas. Better graphics doesn't make for a better game.

It's GTA, a true console port. It's not a good combo, GTA + GameWorks.

It's also hella expensive. No way would you throw that $ at these guys who show a disdain for releasing proper functional PC titles. Expect months of patches to fix glaring bugs.

Was GTA 4 notorious for running horribly on PC? I just grabbed it and it seems to run okay so far (solid 60fps). So I am expecting GTA 5 to run as good.
