So I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed over time that many people ask financial related questions here...specifically the same questions over and over again. While one could argue that there are dedicated forums elsewhere for these matters, people will continue to ask the questions here. In order to cut down on the duplicate threads as well as provide a very, very simple list of financial FAQs I propose we put together an official thread for this. It can be stickied if the mods want, but it doesn't have to be.
The purpose of this "pre-thread" is to discuss some of the things that will be covered in the actual thread. I think there's several questions that come up repeatedly such as:
Should I close old credit card accounts?
I'm $xxxxx in debt, what should I do?
Should I borrow from my 401k?
Which credit card should I get?
Random FICO score questions
My thinking was we put together an answer for each question, post that in the OP which can be updated over time as needed. I can answer the questions above but I would certainly be open to people volunteering to do it as well. This can also serve as a central place for people to ask questions similar to this so we don't have a new thread for it each time.
Please post additional questions that should be answered, volunteer to answer some of these questions, or let me know if you think this is a good idea.
