OK i broke down and ordered a new PC. I know how to build them, but my old one just crapped out (EPOX 8RDA+ board, 90% of the capacitors were blown...sent i back to epox for repair today) and kinda wanted something quickly. picked this one based on price and the fact it accepted 184 pin RAM, and had an AGP slot and price...

specs out pretty nice i think, and i have an acer laptop that has been nice...

going to upgrade it with the following:
gonna transfer my corsair 512mb RAM on it to get 512MBx2 (CORSAIR MEMORY XMS PC 3200 DDR )

add in my second DVD/CD-RW Sony drive

Gainward/Card Expert 8x AGP Ti 4200, 3.6ns, 128 MB DDR (285/580 MHz) GeForce 4 (OLD!!!)

probably get a new sound card for it also

what do you think? not for hardcore gaming, mostly math/engineering programs.

Up PSU to at least Fortron 450W. 300W is really too low and going to a Fortron is worth it.

I agree...its a sickly Power supply and is destined for the junk pile. You will need to invest in an appropirate upgrade.

Your power supply is fine. People always want some one to get more.
300 will power any system fine that donw have a very new video card or 6 hard drives.
