well i finally finished my new build on friday morning

asus sli premium
evga 7800 gt copper edition
lite-on dvd rom
plextor 716a dvdr
500 gb [2x 250] seagate 7200.8
audigy 2zs
xp home sp2
forceware 77.77
2005fpw
17 in daewoo crt

that's all the essentials i can think off. computer ran fine over the weekend. memtest86, 3dmark and prime95 completed without any lockups or crashes. niow this morning computer won't turn on. or rather it'll turn on for a couple of second and then shuts off. that is atleast when it is connected to the ups [an apc 1200va/780 w unit]. if connected to a regular outlet, it won't even power on, at all.

sounds like a psu issue right? and that's what it prob is, but i guess i'm just really surprised given the quality of seasonic psus and my experiences with them. so i guess i'm asking if anyone here things it could be anything else, something i might have missed, or even just what in hell causes such a fab psu to crunk out after 3 days.

anyways, i'm just really frustrated [the rma psu is on the way] , bu not having this baby running really hurts. any consolations, suggestions, advice welcome.

best

If your PSU has one of those 230v/120v (I think that's the range) make sure it's on 120v and not the other. I doubt this is it, but you never know.

You do have a 24 Pin ATX connector and not a 20 Pin ATX correct ?

Do you have the 4 Pin connector plugged the MB - up by the Processor ?

Is the 6 Pin connector plugged into your Graphics card ?

How about the 4 Pin (Hard Drive type) connector ? Is it plugged into you MB by your Graphics Card ?

You may want to pull any PCI devices you have plugged in to see if one of them is shorting your System.

Check you BIOS for Voltage and Overclock settings.

Some of these may be a little out in left field, but you never can tell sometimes.

It could possibly be your MB too - a surge could have hosed your voltage regulators.

Have you checked to make sure the fan on the processor starts running when you power on? If the motherboard detects that the processor fan isn't working it will shutdown the system automatically like that.

yeah the fan works fine. and it's a 24pin, and all the relevent connectors are plugged in. swapped out pci devices. gfx card. so it definitely looks like the psu is the culprit.
