so i was sick of all the mosquitos/spiders/bees/etc right outside my door that hang out around the light, so after many weeks of being pissed off i was walking down the street and saw a praying mantis, i caught it in a cup and let it loose outside my door. it ate pretty much every bug in a matter of 2 days and is still sitting outside my door. its like my insect security guard. hell yizzle

Yeah when I was a kid I would catch them and leave them near lights they would own everything and stick around, I was a happy camper.

what are you going to do if all if its Praying Mantis friends decide to visit and you have 50 of them outside your door? I dunno if I'd want a tribe of those suckers on my front porch.

I'd let loose a bunch of frogs.

Aint gonna happen. Eventually there will be only one. They will cannibalize themselves until one is left.

When I was little we used to let two or three loose in the house in the summer and they would kill flies and spiders.
So far I cant talk my wife into letting me letting two or three loose in the house. :(

The house centipedes in my house tend to take care of most of the bugs/spiders in my house. I still kill them when I come across them, as they freak my wife out (and me I guess, though less so than spiders and bees), but they're one of the better "pests" to have.

Only in reproduction.

If you go on some sites that sell mantids for pest control, they will tell you that they will eat each other as well as other bugs.

And so the mantis just stays at your porch? They don't run off? It's like setting my guinea pig down on my front steps. He enjoys eating grass but I'm sure after a while he'll hop away into someone else's yard and will continue until he gets run over. I don't see how animals just stay at one location. Cats are smarter, but dogs? They'll just run off.
