My dad passed away from the same thing late last year.

My advice: spend time with him and his family. Even if it's just watching TV there, having dinner, whatever.

i can't 🙁 i'm stuck here in shytty-ass st. louis. i have school (trimesters).
 
ever since i've heard the news, i just haven't wanted to go to sleep... not out of fear of dying or anything. just the shock. i've been watching dvds and tv all morning long to try to not think about it. i'm still kinda numb everytime i think about it....

i called gargan (that's what we (his best friends) call him) today and tried to say something to comfort him, but i had no idea what to say... i was just blank. all i could do was ask where and what time and how and tell him how i felt... that my heart sunk through the floor and i went numb whenever i heard his voicemail. i still can't believe he's gone... mike sr.... gone.... i'll go back to his house and he won't be there anymore. no more jokes. no more bullshitting around. no more talking about hot girls. no more "hey, man! what's up? how's school treatin' ya? you gonna fix my back for me?"...

it also killed me to hear gargan cry... that's like a knife to the chest when you hear one of your best friend's cry helplessly.

Unfortunately you will be in your friends place some time in the future. That said it's better for children to bury their parents than parents burying their children.

Unfortunately you will be in your friends place some time in the future. That said it's better for children to bury their parents than parents burying their children.

Want some advice? Coming from a guy who unexpectadly (sp?) lost his father?

DON'T talk about what happened to your friend. Instead talk about the most random things you can think of...take him out for Pizza or something...his mind will never be off what happened but you can help by getting him away from what probably is a fiasco going on where is right now.

Condolences. Get out there and try to make life better for yourself and your friend while you still can. We can all go at any time for a myriad of reasons. You have to just enjoy what you have while you have it in this short life.

my best friend and his family are coping very well. my best friend says he's still waiting for his dad to wake up in the morning, but he knows it's not going to happen. his dad's with God now and he's fine with that.
