Knowing this, why only bring up the religious reasons people use to do bad things?

Trying to hide the truth?

I think it's safe to assume that we can blame religion for some percentage of violent acts. Therefore, get rid of religion to get rid of those violent acts, and people will only commit violent acts because they are bad people and not because some book transcribed by some guy that supposedly contains the word of a god that may or may not exist told them to.

Same can be said about black people.

Therefore, get rid of religion to get rid of those violent acts, and people will only commit violent acts because they are bad people and not because some book transcribed by some guy that supposedly contains the word of a god that may or may not exist told them to.

Wow, this is a stupid post, IF I understand it correctly.

Why does it matter the reason people use for being violent? Would it change the results?

If SOME people are only violent due to religion, then yes. It's much easier to say "this book tells me I need to kill you because you're a non-believer" vs "I need to kill you because I'm a blood thirsty human being", at least in this day and age.

Probably. These people aren't violent, and looking for an excuse. They're "divinely" inspired, and doing the "right thing". You can't argue against the supernatural.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, particularly if the results don't change.

There is really no excuse to murder, no matter what the reason.

I think we're starting to lose focus on what's really important in this thread.

What do they want? True believers, or hypocrites? In this context, what benefits society more?

Atheists.

Agnostics are actually best since they don't have the certainty to do much evangelizing or yelling. Usually, anyway, sometimes they can be passive aggressive about it.
