Because the local predators were nearly wiped out by man, the population of these pests has grown uncontrolled. They cause a lot of damage to farms in terms of damaged crops, injured livestock, etc. They can be killed as far as I am concerned.

Yup, they're absolutely disposable.

Gets expensive doing it that way though.

In 1900, a huge Prairie Dog settlement was reported on the high plains of Texas. It extended 100 miles in one direction and 250 miles in the other. An estimated 400 million prairie dogs lived in this "town!"
