I'm comparing the PR rating of my chip with the PR rating AMD is using for the XP. Now the XP1800 really is a 1.53ghz I clocked my amd tbird to 1.3ghz 133*1.5 and my PR was above 2000 according to Sandra. What kinda of PR are u guys getting? Is there anyother prog. that calculates PR? One last question what the hell is a PR rating anyway? The way I interpreted AMD was a XP1800aka1.53ghz will perform as well as a P4 1.8ghz, so what the hell would a the PR rating for the P4 be? 1530?

I agree with you that in some tests the 1.53Ghz Athlon XP will absolutely blow away any P4. However in some tests the P4 has a distinct advantage. I think AMD has put the PR rating at a speed where the XP outperforms a P4 at that speed in all tests. They did this so they can't get in any sort of trouble with false advertising.

AMD calculates the PR ratings by how well their Palomino scores compared to the performance of the Thunderbird core in Spec2000 Integer tests.

SiSoft Sandra calulates PR rating by estimating what speed processor in terms of Pentium Classic it would take to match your processor.
