PPTP VPN and OS X?

Sorry, I didn't know where to post this exactly so I'm posting it here as well as in other related forums. I have a 3Com firewall and it allows connections to a machine behind it using a VPN connection. The Windows machines can connect to it just fine. When I use Mac OS X, I can connect to the VPN, but I can not mount the shares. I get error 36, which I believe means the Windows machine is not authenticating me. I am using the default VPN client in Internet Connect. I also used DigiTunnel to try out. The 3Com box said I was connected with both these clients when I tried, but I could not find the shares. Can anyone help me out? I'm quite perplexed.

How are you trying to mount the shares? You should be able to go to Go->Connect to Server, and then just type smb://server_ip/sharename and you may or may not be prompted for username/pass/domain credentials. I am assuming that you are using OS 10.2 or higher.

Yes, I tried to mount with smb://IP_OF_WORKSTATION, but it will not mount. I can mount these shares if the machine is not behind the firewall without a problem. I still don't get why I can't mount shares behind the firewall once it says I am connected through the VPN.
