PPT presentation in the background

Hi all. I want to set up a computer where it runs a PowerPoint presentation on a second monitor (a TV set up in another room). However, I also need to be able to use the computer while the presentation is still going on on the TV in the other room. At the moment, the presentation stops as soon as the window loses focus. Is there a setting somewhere that allows the presentation to continue automatically in the background? (It is already set up to auto-transition and loop continuously.) Thanks in advance for any help.

If I interpret your question correctly, yes. Both monitors are enabled and the second is "Expand my desktop..."

There's your problem.

With this option, windows treats both monitors as one desktop. Therefore mouse movements on one monitor are treated as mouse movements on another.

Set it up so it is an independent monitor.

I've never heard of this. As far as I know, the only options are the display clone, where it displays the same on both screens, and the extended desktop, where it is, as you say, an extended desktop. How would I go about setting it up as you describe?
