I just bought a
Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 to replace a dell mother board from a dell optiplex 900. i got this board so that i can use the I-7 sandy bridge from old board . there are a few differences like the power supply is a coolmax V-600 which has the 24 pin and a 6 pin for the 12 volt plug ,although the board has a 8 pin molex, but in the users manual it shows that a 6 pin will work. ALSO the power switch from old board has 5 pin and the Asus calls for a 2 pin. when i have everything hooked up (no video card), monitor with vga and 4 sticks of 4GB EACH BY Sector 5 ,2 TB western digital hd (sata) , and DVDRW (SATA). When i plug in the power supply the LEDS FOR THE on board power switch is red, the LED for onboard reset button is green, and the only other led that lights up is the switches for EPU and, TPU . I HAVE TRIED THE POWER SWITCH ON BOARD but nothing happens same with reset button. the fans do not even spin. I am not sure what to do next except buy a 2 pin power switch or a new power supply with a 8 pin connector. please help because i am now forced to use my old celeron m laptop, that many of the keys on keyboard dont work so all this has been done with on-screen keyboard.
