Ok I got a new network card that mandrake supports and now am trying to set up DSL.
At the config screen I put in:

Provider:earthlink.net
provider dns1:IP I got pinging earthlink.net
provider dns2:blank
username:bryce777
password assword
password confirm assword

AM I using wrong provider DNS or something? My network card, an SMC EZ, seems to be recognized properly and I have no trouble using DSL over Win2k.

when it tests connection sits there like 2 minutes then says I don't seem to be connected to the internet.

Thanks for any advice!

An update is that I tried the two DNS servers from the nfslookup and I still get no connection.

Sounds like the wrong DNS servers. Here are what I have (Earthlink DSL through Sprint in Las Vegas)

207.217.77.82
207.217.126.81

I tried those and still have the same problem.

Do you happen to use mandrake or linux to do pppoe?

do you know if my username should look like

username
username@EarthLink.net
or like
ELN/username@EarthLink.net like in the WinPoET?

I have tried all three, though it would make more sense to have the first one. Maybe I will reverse the two numbers, not that that will likely do much good.

The modem lights don't even blip when I try to connect, which makes me wonder because I would think they would whether they succeeded or not.

BTW I am in Vegas too.
