I am trying to tweak my DSL. I was looking at Speedguide.net and DSLreports and looking at the tweaks there. I was going to use one of Speedguides patches to start out with but am unsure which one to use. I am using Win XP pro, and A belkin router, over PPPOE. Now there is a patch for PPPOE is that the one I should try or since I am connecting through a router would the standard XP tweaks be the way to go?

I am also going to call my DSL ISP (Centurytel) and see what is up with my connection. When I first got my service for the first month I could sustain about 400k which is pretty close to what I am paying for. Now I can only get about 60k. What are some of the things that they should check out with my service? I changed a few things on my end but long after the slow down. I have also tried without the router to see if that helps, but I still get about the same speeds

Thanks for looking and any suggestions you guys might have.

Same situation here as far as speeds and service, but I just connected to DSL a couple of days ago. 60KB/s seems pretty marvelous to me but 400 would be astonishing. I've also tried the tweaks at DSLReports and honestly saw no significant change at all. I'm using RASPPPoE and find it much easier to configure since I'm using ICS to my wife's machine.

Wish I could tell you something worth reading, but 2K, CenturyTel, DSL, and the same speed currently - - so will be watching your responses.

Download DrTCP from DSLreports, and use it to adjust your settings.

Download DrTCP: http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP019.exe

The following is an Example of setting optimized for Broadband Internet system.

Tcp Receive - 513920

Window Scaling - Yes

Time Stamping ? No

Selective Acks ? Yes

Path MTU Discovery - Yes.

Black Hole ? NO

Max Duplicate ? 3

TTL ? 64

MaxMTU ? 1500.

Trying slightly small values of MaxMTU, can produce at time better result.

Your mileage may vary.
