PPPoE in win2k w/ Earthlink

I'm having nothing but trouble getting my DSL to work under win2k, I've tried several clients and installed multiple adapters and I always get the same error (720 cannot agree on PPP settings - something to that affect). I've no problem using it in winxp or win98se. But I just can't seem to set it up in win2k (which is my primary OS). I've used winpoet and raspppoe. Earthlink sent me the wrong version of winpoet (so they say). And I can't download a newer version from their page (I love tech support). Any ideas, other clients, suggestions? I'm really at a loss here and can't for the life of me where I should start next.

Thanks in advance

My advice: Spend $60 on a DSL router.

Sorry if this doesn't help :)

Joining vi_edit good advice.

The best solution is to get a Cable/DSL Router. Even if you don't have a Network you get ($50-$70), hardware Firewall, DHCP (printer server with some Routers), and an independent PPPOE device.

You can uninstall WinPOET and whatever else, the ISP dished you.

Working through the Router in a DSL connection should yield faster smoother Internet connection (it is estimated that the PPPOE software creates a 5-10% reduction in the speed of the connection).
