PPPoE DSL Problem

I need to make an NT 4.0 machine that has Internet access thru a PPPoE DSL(Bellsouth FastAccess) account connect to the Internet automatically when some special backup software needs to send the daily backup data over the Internet to a backup server every night at midnight. The backup software runs as a Service. This NT 4.0 machine has two network cards, one connected to the LAN with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and another connected to the DSL modem.

I've done some research, and it looks like a router that has PPPoE support like the Linksys BEFSR11 would be able to automatically authenticate to Bellsouth FastAccess whenever this NT 4.0 machine had an application that needed Internet access. Is this the best way to get around the PPPoE authentication problem? Any other solutions available? Thank you for any info you can give me.

Once you connect one of this PPPOE compatible Entry Level Router. You type the DSL?s ID and PW, the Router take over the PPPOE aspect of the connection.

You can Uninstall the DSL Dialer, and PPPOE software, and the connection runs like any other Ethernet connection.

You can probably connect the Router to your LAN and do away with the 2nd NIC, unless you want to isolate the DSL from the LAN.
