PPPoE and Windows Vista

So I gets me Vista, and I have a PPPoE connection. But, when I try to connect, it always fails on vista, but always works on XP. I put in the SBC Yahoo! dsl installation disk and it says "the operating system is not supported"...is it possible that the ISP doesnt support vista? Anyone have the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Shouldn't you be asking your ISP? Sounds like you need updated bits from SupportSoft or Motive (via SBC) that supports installing on Vista. Even better, get a router and let it deal with PPoE so it's transparent to whatever box you put behind it.

Why not try setting up your own PPPoE connection within Vista? Open up the Help and Support window from the start menu, and search for PPPoE. The first result will tell you how to do this manually. If you don't have one of the settings it asks for, call your ISP for the info.

Should be as simple as that. And make sure you've got a firewall turned on!!!

ATT/Yahoo has 24/7 tech support. Their number is 877-722-3755.

You'll get your questions answered a lot faster that way.

The software CDs they have are not compatible with Vista but you dont need their software to get online with XP or Vista.

I'm sure there is a way with Vista to set up your SBC account. Go into the control panel to find out for sure.
