Hello, I am a SBC adsl customer for many years. my orginal modem is usb speedstream, and is under PPPoA. i have to dial in to connect to dsl, but the problem is i dont have the software require for my other modem. basiclly, i wanna switch over to a ethernet base modem, which i got from a former sbc user. i got a spare westel wirespeed ethernet adsl modem. i can get both to sync up with solid green light on, but i only have software for my speedstream modem. my isp is pretty much useless, so does anyone know of a dialer? i am on WinXP and the built in pppoe does not work.

i also heard that i can use a router to do the dialing, but which brand or model can do this? remember, i am under PPPoA with westel wirespeed modem.

If you already have the Westel modem, just call support up and ask them to switch you over from PPPoA to PPPoE (just a provissioning change for you at the DSLAM). Once they get you switched over, you can use the built in XP PPPoE client, any other client, or a router that does PPPoE.
There are not many routers that do PPPoA, the ones that do tend to be much more expensive (only one I know of off the top of my head is the Cisco 827).

These drivers support 1483, PPPoE, and PPPoA connections.
These drivers are only for Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition (ME), Windows 98 SE, and Windows 98 (1483 only).
