just curious...for reference i've been spending around 500 a month in pittsburgh, eating out quite a lot.

Thanks,
Vivan

I live in NYC.

For a week of eating, I'll spend maybe $70-80 on groceries.

I don't eat out often, perhaps once a month, which costs a max of $50.

Maybe $300 to $350? I only eat dinner out a couple of times a month. I almost always eat weekday lunches out. That total includes groceries.

if you're buying decent cuts of meat and lots of fresh stuff... probably $70-80 a week? if you can live off of canned stuff and pasta, well... you know 🙂

We moved from Manhattan to NJ last March, then from NJ to New Orleans in September, but before we moved my gf and I would spend about $200 on Fresh Direct every 2 weeks or so. Add in $50 for quick trips to the store for stuff we run out of, etc, probably 2 lunches out per week each @ $10/meal, and maybe 3 dinners out a month averaging around $100...probably around $800/mo for the two of us. Of course, the FD total usually included a good amount of money towards beer/wine. Needless to say, we probably now spend less than half of that and eat just as well, if not better.

Edit: we also usually had people over at least one night a month for dinner, so that usually figures into those FD orders.

I see friends when I can, but with school it's tough to make the time!

if you mean NYC and not the other boroughs, $50 is like 1 meal, lol.
your ratio of groceries $ to eating out $ is unusual.
