Evergreen Technologies
Under BuyNow, closeouts.

from 400Mhz at $40
433Mhz $39
466Mhz $47
500Mhz $48

Not often I see Pricewatch beat, much less by a 10 year old company with decent shipping.

not bad but there not coppermines, so they lack the sse's and full speed cache

Anyone know how well these CPUs overclock? They are all intended to run on 66 fsb right? Believe it or not I'm still running a Celeron "450A". Thanks.

uhm even ppga celerons have fullspeed on-die l2 cache

every celeron starting with the 300a up had on-die fullspeed cache

Does anyone know if these higher multiplier celerons will work in an old LX board? I know in BX boards since the multiplier's locked that it will work....I was wondering if the LX boards would even recognize these suckers?

jlyda, except for the original 266MHz and 300MHz cache-less models, all Celerons have full-speed L2 cache.

Anyone out there know if I can use (modified) slot adapters to run 2 of the 500MHz Celerons on a Dual LX chipet motherboard?

EDIT: Tangman, I have upgraded some of the PCs at my workplace with Celeron 466MHz, 500MHz, and 533MHz CPUs. Most are Micron Millennias with LX chipsets. With these motherboards you have to set a "config" jumper on the motherboard and specify the CPU speed.

On the overclocking: 400s of the later builds have some fair chance of hitting 600 (6x100), but the higher speeds have a rapidly declining chance of going up to 100Mhz FSB. I'm currently running a 400 at 600 with not too much extra cooling.

LX boards: I've had some higher speed Cellys in older LX boards without too much trouble. Depending on the board, the bios may complain, misID the chip but run correctly, or just work fine. Odds are, the board may call it something wacky during boot, but the chip will just work great.

Dual: Dual capable slotkets should work fine if the board will work with Celerons. A buddy of mine was running 433s dual in a Tyan board for quite a while with no problems. He was using MSI 6905 ver 1.1 slotkets.

If anyone is looking for a cheap motherboard, I bought one of these a couple weeks ago. It works fine, they shipped it quick as well. It is an lx chipset, though for the price you can't go wrong. You do need to get jumper settings from the website for "newer" processors not shown in the manual. Tekram

Great price on the CPUs. I ordered a couple. Thanks for the heads up on the deal. :)

Regarding the Tekram boards: Good value for the price. I think you can order up to three for about $8.00 shipping.

If you want to build a cheap puter, consider either the P6L40-A4, or the S381-M.

The P6L40-A4 is a favorite of mine as it has 4 DIMM slots. Can fill it full of those leftover 32 MB DIMMs. S381-M is good as the video/sound is on the board. Great for the parents or grandparents as a netsurfer/word processing box. I've built a couple of boxes with the P6L40-A4 and P6L40-E4. Reliable boards.

I've been 90 percent satisfied with the Tekram boards. Only once have I received a defective one. A ZX board.

Regarding overclocking: I've taken a few 400 MHz Celerons up to 600 MHz. Had better luck with 300 MHz Celerons at 450 MHz.

I'd say the odds are good if you ordered two CPUs for an SMP box, they would be identical S-Spec. Evergreen probably bought them in large lots from Intel or a chip broker.

This board is a socket 370 with onboard video and sound for $34.95. They warn that it doesn't support the flip chip celerons. Tekram

You probably won't believe it, but they put the warning there after *I* told them that it does not support Flip chips. Initially, they had support for FC-PGA up there. Also made them clear up couple of other mistakes :) Can you believe that? :Q

New link. The only problem I have with them is that they are "* Sold As Is - no warranty or technical support"

BTW, looks like they have changed the web page since this afternoon. They must have seen all of the hits and added a blurb about their regular products and changed their link.

Thanks 800XL

Jim, you are partially mistaken about Evergreen products. They use K6-2 processors pre-mounted to voltage regulator boards for Socket-7 upgrades. These work great on a LOT of socket 7 motherboards. My workplace has 5 or 6 older PCs upgraded with these and I have an Asus TX-chipset motherboard running one (a spare PC). Evergreen also produces upgrades for Slot-1 motherboards. These are for use on FX- and LX-chipset motherboards that can't take an official upgrade over a 333MHz Pentium 2. These upgrade kits use Celeron processors. Evergreen doesn't make their own CPUs.

EDIT: Nevermind, Jim saw the Intel link.

Nice deal! I just picked up a pair of 500's ($104 shipped to CA) and a couple of those S381-M Tekrams ($82.99 shipped to CA)!

Does anybody have the S381-Ms? I was wondering if there are incremental/intermediate FSB settings (between 66 and 100), because according to the PDF there is only 66 and 100FSB. Then if the chips aren't stable at 100FSB we can only run them at 66FSB. Good deal nonetheless!

For those ordering the Tekram boards, you might want to order some of their Ultra/66 IDE cables as extras for $2.95. I picked up several a month ago and they came in a package with a floppy cable and three jumpers. They appear to be good quality cables. Only drawback is the IDE cable is only 18". Still a nice deal for $2.95 considering the usual high cost of Ultra/66 cables.

Those C366s have better chance overclock to 100mhz bus without voltage adjustment and with retail heatsink/fan.

S381-M, I've got one running a c500mhz. I don't think that it does anything but 66/100. I'll check on monday if people need me too, send me a message if it isn't up from someone else by then
