PPC2002 upgrade for iPaq: Does Compaq's newest CDrom upgrade both 3100 and 3600 series?

Someone at work just received their "free" Compaq iPaq OS upgrade
(PPC2002) for their iPaq 3635. The insert that came with the CD
says it is an upgrade for the "3100 *AND* 3600" series iPaqs (emphasis
mine). Does anyone know if Compaq has revised the upgrade CDrom
so that it now supports both series (the 3100 is the monochrome
series). When I got mine a while ago it definitely did NOT work
with the 3100 series...
