Current Setup:

350 watt psu
1.2ghz processor Amd Athlon (200fsb)
Gigabyte GA-7VRXP
256mb DDR 2700 mem

Well when i hooked it all up and it booted lovely but then after like a minute i started smelling burneed electronic chips but i dint know what it was. So i started smelling my computer and i figured out it was the powersupply. I opened it up to clean it adn i saw 3 abnormally browned resistors and the pcb was brown too.

So then i got a 250 watt psu and the same thing started happened but i shut it down before it really started to smell.

BTW there was never any smoke and the system was running.

did you find out something was shorted? turn on the power supply with nothing connected, then troubleshoot by hooking up one thing at a time...
