powershell/vbscript to change os performance options?

i'm trying to find a script/cmd to basically change the setting in Win7 from "best appearance" to "let windows choose" under performance options. registry tweaking doesn't seem to work, doesn't seem to change/apply. have tried using an autoit script, but it wasn't 100% consistently working per machine.
