What is the difference between Powerquest Drive Image and Drive Copy?

You can't boot from image, can you?

I know that when you copy partition to another partition ( or HDD ) and if you make it active, you will be able to boot from this copy (providing it has OS on it).

But how do you boot from an image? You have to restore it but that is not enough for it to boot, is it?

Thanks

DriveImage will do everything DriveCopy will do, and a lot more. It is basically the equivalent of Norton's Ghost - only better. DriveCopy is srtictly a drive cloning program. It is limited to drives of 80 GB or less. It works best when the computer is booted from it's created boot diskettes, or a boot CDR. I have both programs and used DC all the time to clone my drives. No image is involved. It makes a direct carbon copy of a drive, partitions, optimizations and all.

DriveImage can do that also, but it can also burn images of drives onto other media. But, an image is not always ready to use - it usually has to be restored.

I replaced both of these programs with Acronis' TrueImage 7.0. It is much slicker, faster and user friendly than D/I and has much more capability than D/C. It will also automatically create and burn a bootable CD that is a joy to use.
