powerpoint and brother hl5050 display probs

with Dell Inspiron, winxp, PowerPoint, I find that printing to a Brother HL 5050, the output appears to be formatted for A3 - sort of. Tried the standard stuff - page layout, printer options, reinstall driver, all to no avail. Has anyone had a similar problem, andif so, can you assist me please?
