Powerman Power supplies,Junk or Not????

my cousin has a spare 300w powerman ps.....will this be ok to run my new celemine 1.1/i815 combo>??!?!?!?!?!?!?
bascially,are they junk or not.
Im working within a tight budget:S

They seem to be all inwins, had mine for about 2.5 years now, no problem yet but hey, I would just have a spare just in case..

Powerman PSU's are re-labeled Sparkles. Sparkle is one of the top (definitely one of largest anyway) manufacturers of PSUs. For the most part they work very well. I have one myself in my backup, which is a Athlon 700. Prior to that, it ran with my old 1.1ghz T-bird. Admittedly, my first Powerman was defective and would not reliably boot in either of my machines.

Personally speaking, I'm more comfortable with Antecs.

cool i think ill pick this up from him!

I have had a Powerman 300W running nonstop for well over 2 years now in one of my server boxes at home...never had a problem. Also had plenty of juice to run a 1ghz@1.4 Tbird with 3 SCSI drives, 2 cdrom, 1 burner, NIC, vid, etc....

Spakle makes great power supplies. You can't go wrong with a Sparkle or Powerman.

I have a kg7 raid with 1.4 tbird and the powerman 300 that came in my in-win case did not make it, it was unstable. I upped to a 400 sparkle and it went away. I had came across someone else on another forum that had the same probs with the same proc. and it turned out the was using the same psu. I'm not bashing powerman psu's, but I would consider going to a larger psu with yoiur proc.

As stated above, they are made by Sparkle. They are excellent power supplies. I have been using them for years and have not had a single problem with any of them.

I doubt they are Sparkle powersupplies. You voltage readings coming off from my girlfriend's Powerman 300W ps is far from steady.

Where do you guys get that info? (I'd just like to see it to believe it).

You kidding me?

My friend and I have almost identical configurations, except he's got an enermax 350 watt, and I've got a powerman 300.

I have yet to see my 5v line (the crucial one) go below 4.85, and its usually right at 5v. His jumps from 4.75 to 5.21 and all between, constantly.

Powerman's are very nice PSUs, IMHO.

I've got a Powerman running my 1.3 T-bird rig. I tried uping my 1.3 to 1.4 and it didn't work. Originally I thought it was the PS (In fact I even posted it here at AT) but I think it was my Coolermaster HSF I was using.
I've got the BIOS to shut the computer off if my processor gets hotter than 60ºF
