I have a 1tb hdd that I use to have in my windows computer.. and I gave it to my friend.. he's having trouble formatting the hdd so it will work with his mac. He wants to erase all of the data and start over.

but when he goes to the disk utility to try and format he gets this error.

"the chosen size is not available for the chosen file system"

I've never used a mac, so I really have no idea.

any help?

The Mac may be having trouble reading the disk since its formated for a Windows system. You may need to place the drive into a windows system and wipe the drive and reformat it under FAT32 which the Mac should be able to deal with and then format.

Spend a few $ and get a USB HDD enclosure. Then you can coneect it to any PC via USB and format from there.
