Powermac g4 big problem

I have a Powermac G4 Quicksilver that I put a new cpu and sata controller/hard drive in some months ago. A month or two after I did it I had a strange crash that made the G4 not recognize my sata drive on bootup although I installed drivers for it, it just showed the flashing finder icon on startup. I fixed it by formatting and re-installing, resettting every flash module I could think of.

Well this morning the same exact thing has happened. I can't afford to lose this machine, that is to say, the pictures on the drive. Is there any way I can get things fixed without flashing everything and reformatting? I think the G4 doesn't like the sata setup I have. Thanks for any help.

I would first try to connect the hard drive to another system, and backup all the data on it, or add an ide drive to the system, reinstall os, and see if you can read the sata drive.
