Powerline Network Secure?

Can your neighbor plug in his powerline network plug and connect to your router if it is connected to a powerline network?

The Netgear uses 56-Bit DES Encryption to ensure privacy and security.

Others probably too, look at the data sheet of what ever you are planning to buy.

Take into consideration that this technology is good only if it solve immediate problem. There are No future upgrades, and if you would need other peripherals (like Routers and Bridges), they are either not in existence or are very expensive.

Sorry if I sound totally clueless but I've never used a powerline network before. If I understand this correctly, the computer connected to a plug powerline network would need to have some sort of a wep type key in order to access the router that is connected to the powerline network?

The encryption is in the Modules and can be controlled/change with a provided utility through the Network. The utility write the key to an EEPROM that is in the unit.

How many other people actually have powerline adapters to even try to hack your network though
