powerline adapter and switch problem

My current setup is that my AT&T GigaPower modem is in the far room of my home. Wireless is great throughout the house, but some of my older devices are not wifi capable and require a wired Ethernet connection. In order to get wired access to other locations, I installed a TP-LINK powerline adapter, as seen here:

This setup has worked great so far. However, the problem is that the powerline adapter only has 1 Ethernet port, so only one device can plug into it. So I bought the following unmanaged switch:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A128S24?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Now my setup is:
AT&T modem ==> powerline adapter ==> powerline adapter ==> switch ==> devices

(For the visually inclined)

The 5 ports on the switch are all the same as far as I can tell. In one of the 5 ports I have the Ethernet cable connected to the powerline adapter in the wall, and then I have devices connected into 2 of the remaining ports with Ethernet cable. The weird thing is that as soon as I plug the powerline adapter into the switch, it kills my wifi. My AT&T modem completely stops broadcasting the signal. I also get some IP conflict errors show up on my computer. If I unplug the powerline adapter from the switch, the wifi signal comes back and everything works great. Of note, I have not actually tried any of my wired devices to see if they work with this setup. I figured it was a moot point since it kills my wifi.

Just wondering what is going on and how I can fix this. My ultimate goal is to have 3 or 4 devices have a wired connection to my internet service via my powerline adapters.

Can you plug your switch into the modem without any issues?

I go modem <==> wifi router <==> powerline <==> powerline <==> switch <==> access point and don't have any issues. Biggest difference is that I'm not using the cable companies all in one. I'm thinking their device is exhibiting some odd behavior because it thinks something else is trying to be a router.
