I have an AMD system with an ATX powersupply. It has a athlon 1200, 2 hardrives, geforce4, 2 CDroms, and a 250 watt powersupply. Ok here is what happended. For a while I have had a Geforce2 installed. Everything has been going great. Today I buy a Geforce4, I plop it in, overclock it, and it works great. The system was up for about 4 hours then it just turned off right in the middle of a game.

I look at the case and the green online light changed to red. I looked it up in the manual and red means its in standby mode. I tried pressing keys to get it out of standby and nothing. I thought ok, so somthing overheated. I held the power button until the red light turned off and waited. I turned it on the only the red light turned on, no fans or anything else, just the red light. I tear apart the computer, the video card is cool, the CPU is kind of hot and the PS is very hot. I let it air out a while till everything was cool. Hook it up and turn it on. The red light turned on and nothing else. Also this time the case was off and I saw that the yellow motherboard light lights up. Still no fans, video or bootup. I thought ok maybe its stuck in suspend mode so I took out the bios battery and waited 15 minutes and put it back in and powered it up. Same thing.

So anyone got any ideas? Do I need to buy another PS? Is this one completly hosed? Any insight would be appreciated. Post any questions you got I will be monitoring the board today. Thanks!

and a 250 watt powersupply

I think your PSU went south on you after installing your GF4 , those video cards seem to suck up power like there's no tomorrow .

You really need a PSU with a good power rating like an Enermax or an Antec - Directron PSU's
