Powerleap CuMine S370 to Tualatin...?

just stumbled on this... bp6.com says that powerleap is supposedly working on a Socket 370 adapter for that will make it work on a Tualatin. Anyone else heard anything? If this is true then I would definitely hold out on upgrading... Powerleap already has an adapter for PPGA to FCPGA... i suppose its possible then?

You want to get in touch with apoppin....I believe he is using a .13um Celeron and the Power Leap adapter on a BX board....

Edit:

See this thread.

So it does exist then? Hmmm... I would say it would be a lot more difficult than their current slot adapter but I belive there is a bigger base of Socket370s out there than there are Slots... perhaps making it more profitable.

Oh I know they're not at all the same... I was just implying that if they were able to do it on a PPGA socket... then I 'assume' its also possible for a CuMine socket 370 to have an adpater that will make it Tualatin compatible.

If you want to run a S370 Tually, just get a new mobo. The Neo370 (PPGA to FC-PGA) is ~ $25. The PL-iP3/T (slot1 to S370 Tually) is about $70. If the S370 to S370T is around the $70 mark, it would be too expensive IMHO. You can buy a TUSL2 mobo for ~ $100. You could sell the old mobo and spend less in the end.

Paul at PL is very confident they will complete this project.

My 1.2 Ghz Tualatin Celeron runs fine on my BX board with the original PL adapter. I am only running it at 1.24Ghz (mild 3% overclock) since it doesn't have voltage adjustments and I don't feel like wiring the CPU pins to get higher voltage (it is FINE for all my current applications and games).

It is great as an interim cheap ($169) upgrade. My P3@800Mhz was showing it's age (and getting a little slow for some games). This will do fine 'till my next major upgrade.

EDIT: I HAD considered a new MB, but then I would need a new PS as mine is only 245w (and pretty overloaded right now). Getting a Tualatin MB didn't make any sense (to ME) as it is a dead end solution (Intel is using it just as an INTERIM solution that will never go over 1.5Ghz). Plus all the bother of changing MBs. $169 is a great price for CPU/HSF and adapter for a lazy person (Me - just plug it in). 🙂

:Q So there is such a project then? Any word on how soon it'll be finished? Wow... my black pearl running a Tualatin 1.33ghz someday... heaven.

More good news on the Tualatin front! The new "Tualeron" 1.0A and 1.1's will be out soon. These are like the 1.2 Celerons. 256k cache, 100 MHz FSB. Getting the 1.2 to 1.6 can be pretty challenging. The 1.1 on a 133 FSB = 1463 should be easy. I think 1.5 Ghz+ will be easily reachable with this setup. I think I know what my next upgrade is. TUSL2 and a 1.1 Tualeron.

<< Yah but I like my Black Pearl because it's black! Hahahaha... crazy me... but you do have a point. 🙂 >>

Does it have a Type R sticker on it?

Nope... it just says POWERED BY INTEL on about twenty yellow stickers...and a big fat tip on my Enermax.
