The circuits that do amplification on my Z-560 went up in smoke yesterday after I replaced the blown fuse with what might have been a higher rated fuse. I took circuit board off the heat sinks and 3 out of the 5 amplifier chips are burned.

Anyways I'm wondering what other options I have to power the 4 satellites and subwoofers. I don't really want to buy another set of speakers because a good set cost around 200 dollars for basically the same thing I have now. Also I would like enough head room so that I could power my spare set of Z560 from the first time they died or upgrade to real speakers.

So are you just looking for a cheap 5.1 receiver to power the speakers?

You'd have to get a new sub too as the amp in the sub powers it too (duh, you already know that).

Ok.... ecost.com has some great deals on entry level receivers. Something like this would get the job done, but wouldn't give you true surround you'd get from a receiver with 6 channel direct input like this one has. That onkyo 501 would be a really nice option for you and is nice enough that you could upgrade your speakers in the future and it wouldn't hold you back too soon.

If I'm reading your post correctly it sounds like you have 8 satellite speakers? With that onkyo, you could hook 6 of them up for now.

If you need a budget sub, the dayton 10" is a nice one. It goes on sale for $99 or $109 once in a while.
