My Tyan mobo, S1837UANG, does not provide enough AGP current to power a GF2, or so I've been able to gather from forums, newsgroups and tech support.
Will powering the GF2 fan from an off board source help the situation? The fan uses 12V @ 0.06A. I understood the GF2 used 3.3V but there might be a DC converter in the loop somewhere and moving the fan's power source would help. Don't know.
My symptoms are the ELSA Gladaic runs in standard VGA mode fine (whoopiee), GF2 not enabled, but as soon as I install GF2 drivers the board hangs during the boot process.
During a stepwise boot process the last thing displayed is starting ASPIENUM.VXD.
It's not ASPIENUM.VXD. If I don't execute it, the sysytem still hangs. Sometimes I get a "Windows Protection Error" error message.
