Powering a small fan off of xbox360 USB ?

As per the title really, my 360 is in a cabinet which has the doors open when playing (naturally), but it can get a bit warm in there. It hasn't overheated (yet?), and I've created some ventilation slots in the back of the unit, but I thought a fan directly behind the box will help to extract the heat out of the cabinet. For that, I thought using the USB port on the 360 to power it might be a good idea.

Of course, it might not :)

I've read up on the USB specs and realise that ideally I'd like to keep the current draw as close to 100ma as possible, and the best I can find is with a zalman fan at 5v which will be about 120ma. If it comes to it and the 360 shuts the port down for taking more power without asking then I'll just throw a powered USB hub in instead.

So, my question would be: is this my best way to go about this, is it likely to be 'workable' does anyone know, and also, are there any other suggestions for running perhaps a couple of 120cm fans instead which would be powered by what exactly? Some small standalone PSU that will supply a couple of 5v lines?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions !

ps, moving the 360 out of the cabinet not an option due to female interference.

Why not just let the Xbox 360's own fan move the air? Push the console to the back of the cabinet so any hot exhaust air that comes out of the back of the console leaves the cabinet immediately.

qft

If this is unacceptable, create a cardboard/wooden/some material duct from the 360's exhaust directly out the back of the cabinet. :)

You can buy units that go on the back of the XBOX 360 and push more air. They take power straight from the wall as well. I have a Nyko Intercooler on my 360 and the only bad thing is it used to sometimes turn on at full power for no apparent reason. Although, it hasn't done this since I moved it.

Yeah, I'd heard a few bad things about those though. A lot of it could be scaremongering, but even the guy where I bought it told me to keep away from them, as he'd had two back that very day, allegedly because of the coolers. Scorching around the power connector and death.

I've got a heap of old notebook adapters at home though, I think I'll butcher the output on one of them and use it to shunt a couple 120cm fans. Should do the trick nicely. Thanks for the replies folks.
