Poweredge 400SC Memory Upgrade

Will any of these work? Anyone have a 400SC and upgrade to 4GB? What did you use? Generic RAM is fine as this is a development box. Thank in advance.

The original memory on the 400SC was ECC DDR. You can install regular non-ECC PC3200 DDR, but you can't mix ECC and non-ECC. You'll either have to buy more ECC or remove the original RAM.

Crucial has the ECC memory for a reasonable price, but it's still pretty expensive.

I use to own one of the 400SC. Great system. Personally, I had 4x 512MB Crucial ECC PC3200 in it. It was flawless. Unfortunatey I had to sell it before I could buy 1GB dimms.

Yea I usually just buy Crucial dimms but this machine is just going to be a Virtual server (4-6 of them)so I just need quantity over quality for this project.

Well I'd give it a shot. Just make sure you can return it without a restocking fee is the only suggestion I could give. GL 🙂
