We have a server here that was subject to 200 degree temps over the weekend when the air conditioning went out. It's been sitting turned off during the whole time. We are running memtest86 on the memory and getting tons of errors. It is a barely used server running ECC ddr. Could this heat have caused the memory to go bad?

We get bank 2 dimm A error message running some dell diagnostic disk. Doesn't matter if there is or is not memory installed in it.

Sounds more like the motherboard's toast to me.

I'd also check the hard disks thoroughly - our school had a server that was running far too hot, and was shut down for the school holiday period. When they tried to get it back up again, they found that the platters had warped. The disks had to be sent to a data recovery specialist, as the student's work was on them.

Of course, this information doesn't help you a great deal, but if that specific slot is reporting memory errors without a DIMM installed, then something's screwed, and I'd change the motherboard.

The ServerWorks boards are pretty hearty for a 6 layer MB.

Have you checked the PSU.
Those 1U's cannot take any abuse.
