Hi, just wanted some advise on a problem I am having with a powered usb hard drive dock.
I bought this https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Do...552260820&sr=8-3&keywords=hdd+docking+station a few years agao and it's worked fine aside from recently
The UK Power cable that comes with it has no ground pin (well it does but it's plastic so it does nothing) and If I plug the dock into power first and then plug the usb 3 cable into my pc my screen will go black for a few seconds then come back on. Looking into it I think it's cause when the cable hits the metal around the usb ports it's grounding out (I noticed very small arcs from the cable when plugging it in) this has happened on two PC's and the ports work fine with other devices so I dont think my cases usb are defective.
My question is two fold
should I be worried about my PC being damaged by this?
is it safe to say the dock is faulty?
Thanks
