Powered 3.5" firewire enclosure?

I have ByteCC 5.25" firewire/usb2 enclsoure for my dvd+/-rw and absolutely love it, but it will not power off 6pin firewire (I assume because of the usb2 chipset?). I'm planning to get an additional hard drive but can't go back to internal drives... but I want this enclosure to be w/o the messy power cable (very annoying!).

Anyone had any experiences with a firewire enclosure that definately powers off the 6 pin, and suggestions for a hard drive to match it?
 
i'm almost positive firewire doesn't put out enough amps to power a hard drive. USB supports more amperage based on the controller and its the 5volts required for 2.5" drives. either way,i know a few enclsoures allow you to get power from the USB and tranfer via the firewire,but never get power from firewire.
 
definatly only 2.5 drives, and i'm not sure it would even power some of the really top end laptops ones,they are now drawing up to 2amps max.
 
I have one of those external hd cases that use the small 2.5 inch drives. It states that usb1 will run off cable power but usb2.0 requires an external power source. Maybe its the brand of case but that one at least wont do 2.0 with only usb cable power.
 
For the record, USB provides less power than Firewire(this is why the iPod needs a Firewire charger), and I know of no Firewire powered 3.5" enclosures, so it's a good bet that you won't find and USB, either. You're going to have to drop down to 2.5" if you want Firewire powered.
