PowerDVD v5 and nForce 2 Audio Problem

I hooked up an old set of Cambridge Soundworks Fourpoint Surround speakers to the audio jacks on my Asus A7NX8 Deluxe mobo. The surround sound in Doom 3 works pretty well with the speakers. However, I can't get sound from the rear speakers when watching dvds with PowerDVD ver. 5. No matter what speaker option I select in Powerdvd, audio only comes out the front speakers. I can get rear sound if I set the NvMixer surround setting to "Clone" (or "Delay"), but that's not true surround sound. I've also tried all the different speaker modes in the NvMixer with no luck. FYI, I'm using the latest nForce drivers (v4.27).

Any ideas on how I can get surround sound to work properly in PowerDVD?

Is it a retail or OEM version of PowerDVD? I know that some of the "bundled" versions of software DVD players that you get with other hardware, oftentimes are slightly crippled such that they only support stereo down-mixing of DVD audio tracks. You have to pay for the retail-package version of the software to get the full feature set. (At least, that was the case a few years ago.)

Might want to do some web searching for programs like "DVD Genie" and the like. They can bypass region-code restrictions, and access "hidden" features on software DVD players like downmixing support and advanced card-specific DVD video-acceleration support.

I'm running the retail "standard" edition of PowerDVD, which supports up to 8 speakers IIRC. In regards to DVD Genie, I have it on my system so I'll try fiddling around with it. But I doubt it will help fix the problem.

Hey, I just played around with a 4.1 setup connected by analog on my SN45G w/Soundstorm with MSI's PowerDVD 5.1 and couldn't make it work with a DVD and Dolby 5.1 audio either. The only explanation that I can find for it would be question 10 in the FAQs. It must be expecting a A/V reciever, amp, ect. to decode and re-create the rear channels. If that isn't it I can't find anything else to explain it. I will ask my source and if they can't confirm that it's the above issue, I'll file a bug report for us :)
