I knocked my 1700+ back down to the 1.67 level after I was watching PowerDVD in the non-hardware accelerated mode.
At the time it was running at 2 ghz and had run prime95 fine. Then I decided to put in Lord of the Rings for my nephew and about 30 minutes later my machine cut off with this annoying 2 tone beep that continued after it shutdown. I have an Abit NF-7 2.0 and I believe I have adequate cooling (SK 700, high cfm 80 mm cpu and case fans). I'm guessing it got too hot and shut down, but with PowerDVD? Anyone have a similar experience.

When running prime 95 my temps never go over 46 - 47 degrees celsius according to motherboard monitor and the latest bios rev. for the NF-7. I never got a chance to see the temps before the machine cut off during the movie. I'll try the process again when I have time and list the temps.
