I currently have PowerDVD 7 and I see that PowerDVD 8 has been available for a while. Google hasn't given me any concrete answers, so I'm asking y'all: does PowerDVD 8 have better H.264 playback than PowerDVD 7? Is is worth paying for the upgrade, or should I save some coin and stick with 7?

According to Cyberlink's version comparison chart, you have to go to Version 8 Deluxe to get H.164. I currently have 7 - looks like a decent upgrade.

Which version of 7 do you have? I don't think it's worth it. I tried 8 and they actually disabled HD DVD playback. Also at some point in 7 they disabled playback of Video_TS folders which upsets me because that's the only reason I got this program, so I can play my ripped HD DVD folders.

Why not buy the latest version of WINDVD which also includes Blu Ray
capability ? ? Personally I do not like Power DVD (but it is on my Dell
as it came with it .. not sure what version but it is pre-7) ) and I also
have / use WINDVD 5 on that.

Just checked .. on my Dell it is PowerDVD 4.0 (Dell version, I think so it may not be full featured)
