PowerDVD 4 - when 4 speaker audio is enabled, no sound! :/

I got a SoundBlaster Live Value the other day, stuck it in my computer, and after a (rather hefty) 24 meg driver download (sheesh!) was on my way to surround sound goodness. Only one problem i have not been able to get around... When i go into the audio options tab in PowerDVD XP and select 4 speakers, when i play ANYTHING, there is NO sound. I have checked all the dumb things I might've overlooked (mixer volumes, driver settings, etc.) to no avail. BTW when i enable 2 speakers in the tab, the sound works fine, but i want my surround! It does detect a "multichannel sound device" btw.

Any suggestions? I have tried the latest PDVD patch, and have the latest creative drivers.

Set it to SPDIF. It will make the SBLive do all the work and send it to 4 speakers.

But selecting "8 Speakers" works? WTF?!

But it seems to *kinda* work really, seems like the output is the back four of an 8 speaker setups or something....

Can't really hear the vocal part of the audio track...

weird.
