What is the best setting for sound with this combination?
I have been fooling around with this a little with this. My one disapointment with the klipsch's is the lack of a center channel (voices sound kinda quiet during dvd's, while ambient sounds can shake my entire room) - but shouldn't powerdvd 3.0 be able to down mix the center channel?
I am guessing that the best setting would be 4 Speaker Output, right? but then should i enable "Use Dobly Pro-Logic Decoder" or not? is this the down mixing feature?

What has worked best for you?
Thanks.

Well your sound system is only a 4.1 right, so the centre will be abit silent becasue it should be a separate speaker there. Also DVDS were built for 5.1 and not 4.1 so that hinders sound output. Don't flame me the Klipsch are good, but they are only 4.1 and not 5.1 so when it tries to compensate the sound the Sub/Bass can not get such high frequency sounds so that is why bass is good but when it gets out of its range of sound it fails.

Hope this explains it. Good Luck,

Albert.

If you set it to 4 speaker mode you will get a ghosted center channel, as long as your front two speakers are close enough together that works out quite well.

The ProMedia v .2-400 aren't ideal for DVDs, the Midrange is a bit weak realtive to the Bass (midrange is voices). Try turning the Bass volume down a bunch and turning the master volume back up.

Also unless you already own PowerDVD, you might want to try WinDVD 2000 2.3M, PowerDVD doesn't downmix the LFE channel, and while the LFE isn't used much sometimes you miss some really heavy stunning bass effects.
