Hi there folks.
Well, here is the story:
I bought the gfx card mentioned a long time ago, and along with other components that are irrelevant, I also bought a new PSU (back then). It was a Tagan 480W. Back in that day, PSUs did not yet have built-in native PCI-E power plugs for the most part. So, I used the adapter provided by Powercolor to supply power to the gfx card. It plugs into a molex and then converts to your regular 6pin PCI-E power connector. However, and this part will become important, it only uses two wires from the molex, a black and yellow wire, that effectively only make up 2 of the pins on the 6pin PCI-E power adapter.
Now we fast-forward the story to the present.
In short, the Tagan 480W dies. I get a new PSU, a Seasonic S12 600W. Now this new PSU has native built-in PCI-E power plugs of course, 2 of them in fact for SLI. However, these 6pin power connectors use a full 6 wires unlike the adapter. So my question is, can I use them? Or does more wires mean that my card may be set to use a lower voltage/wattage and using the native plugs could damage the card? Anyone had any similar experience or related knowledge?
Please help me, dont want to accidentally kill my gfx card! (and yes, that does mean that for now Im using the adapter, same as before).
Thanks a lot folks.
Fedor
